Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Holy month and beginning of Shawwal in Islamic calendar. It is a time to give in charity to those in need, and celebrate with family and friends the completion of a month of blessings and joy.

On the day of Eid the Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to return by a different route from the one he had taken when going out. (Bukhari)
