What to Look for Healthy Kitten

Make sure you have all your equipment to hand before bringing your new pet home. This way, the animal will settle into a minimum of fuss.

Nose

Should be clean with no discharge or sneezing

Mouth

Breath should be pleasant-smelling, the teeth straight and white and the gums pink

Healthy Kitten

Read:

Coat

Should be clean and shiny with no bald itchy patches. Check for evidence of fleas

Body

Should be symmetrical and well grown. Body movements should be agile and supple.

Ears

Should be clean and pink inside, free from discharge or redness and with no unpleasant odour

Eyes

Should be clear and bright and the under-lide should be a healthy pink. There should be no redness or watering

Anus

Should be free from swelling or irritation as well as clean and dry

Skin

Should be clean and free from dandruff, blemishes and sore patches.

Limbs

There should be no evidence of lameness. The kitten should be able to stand squarely and should be active and fluid in all his movements.
